Mednet Healthcare Technologies
Mednet has been around dating back to 1989 as a ambulatory cardiac service laboratory. Mednet has since evolved into designing, manufacturing and distributing high quality cardiac event monitors and mobile cardiac telemetry devices. Mednet operates under multiple divisions including Mednet Healthcare Technologies, Inc., and Universal Medical Incorporated. Universal Medical is the product development & manufacturing segment established in 1994. Mednet Healthcare Technologies, Inc., was established in 2002 provides remote cardiac monitoring services. Mednet is based in New Jersey providing Mobile Cardiac Telemetry (MCT), Cardiac Event, and Holter monitoring services to thousands of physicians, hospitals & clinics in the U.S.
Competitive Advantage in Mobile Cardiac Telemetry
Mednet’s competitive advantage lies in the flexibility in their product & service offerings. Mednet has experienced consistent growth as a company because they can offer cardiology providers with the traditional service model for Cardiac Event Monitoring or they can sell the equipment to the physician and provide technology for the customer to provide the service on their own. This was a unique asset to Mednet and their growth as they were one of the only companies to offer a medical facility both options.
With such great flexibility in their products and services, Mednet also expanded their business to offer monitors, devices and receiving software to the OEM marketplace. This opened their business to other companies that would buy Mednet’s event monitoring equipment and provide their own service to medical facilities.
Much of Mednet great success can be attributed to the reliability of their cardiac event monitors & software. The Cardiac Event Monitors and Mobile Cardiac Telemetry monitors and software are used in the industry by many of the resellers & service companies.
Mednet Mobile Cardiac Telemetry Technology
Mednet Mobile Cardiac Telemetry technology is very reliable much like previous generations of event monitoring devices. The Mednet Mobile Cardiac Telemetry (MCT) device is called the Heartrak ECAT (External Cardiac Ambulatory Telemetry) monitor. The ECAT is small, reliable, and clinically effective device for MCT monitoring.
Mednet is the company that can also take credit for introducing the newer emerging reimbursement model to the industry. This model was very effective in Cardiac Event Monitoring and is now the ‘talk of the industry’ with Mobile Cardiac Telemetry. This reimbursement model is disruptive to the traditional service model (used by CardioNet, LifeWatch, eCardio) as the physicians purchase the monitors and bill for both the technical fee and the professional interpretation fee. This model has been proven to increase revenue & profitability to the medical practices rather than the service company.
On the service side, Mednet provides:
- 24/7/365 cardiac monitoring laboratory staffed with certified cardiac technicians.
- MCT, Cardiac Event, or Holter devices available to offices, hospitals or directly to patient.
- Mednet receiving software / back end provides reliable storage and privacy protection of a patient’s information.
- Reports delivered electronically or via fax transmission.
- Electronic Medical Records compatibility
Accrediations
Mednet Devices are all FDA Approved as well as ISO Approved.
Mednet in the News
Mednet has recently made headline as they were allegedly in a lawsuit with CardioNet over patent infringement to CardioNet and (its wholly owned subsidiary) Braemar. After more than a year in dispute, CardioNet acquired Mednet technology further securing CardioNet’s leadership in the ambulatory cardiac monitoring market. CardioNet is known as the pioneer for its Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry device (MCOT™) and services.
