eCardio Cardiac Event Monitoring Company
eCardio has experience enormous success as a service-only company. eCardio started as an event monitoring company then later expanding into Holter Monitoring services and now Mobile Cardiac Telemetry.
eCardio had explosive growth in its early years of business by introducing a new economic formula for cardiac event monitoring. The company shared a unique billing method with its customers that allowed both the physician clinic as well as the service company (eCardio) to bill a real time ECG code on a daily basis. This formula extended big revenue gains for eCardio as well as their customer but reimbursement was quickly discontinued by Medicare..
eCardio Approach to Cardiac Event Monitoring
With the termination of the ‘real time ECG’ code, eCardio found it need to an alternative diagnostic tool to supplement the significant reduction in service revenue. eCardio reverted back to the traditional service model where they provide the event monitor to the customer and each bills their respective billing codes. For example, the medical facility would bill for the setup (hook up) code, the interpretation code and eCardio would bill for the technical analysis. This focus on the service model appeals to medical facilities that choose to completely outsource the analysis of Holter Monitoring, Cardiac Event Monitoring and Mobile Cardiac Telemetry. On rare occasions, eCardio will promote the ‘global billing method’ where they sell the devices and allow the medical facilities bill for all of the eligible reimbursement.
eCardio Event Monitor Technology
eCardio offers their customers with several technological options for their Cardiac Event Monitoring services.
- Symptomatic Looping Cardiac Event Monitor – This is the traditional Cardiac Event monitor that is patient activated. The event is sent to the eCardio laboratory via trans-telephonic communication on a land line phone.
- Auto detect Cardiac Event Monitor – This Event Monitor has an algorithm built into the device that automatically captures the without patient involvment. This method is useful for potentially asymptomatic events such as bradycardia, syncope, pauses and Atrial Fibrillation
- Wireless Cardiac Event Monitor – Wireless Cardiac Event Monitors automatically detect and transmit Cardiac Events detected with the monitor’s algorithm. This monitor is similar to Mobile Cardiac Telemetry except it does not have the storage capability to store all 30 days of information.
