Medtronic Mobile Cardiac Telemetry Company
Medtronic is a the medical device giant known for implantable pacemakers, defibrillators & small implantable monitoring devices. Medtronic recently entered the mobile cardiac telemetry market with their acquisition of Northern California company Corventis. Corventis had developed one of the true wireless mobile cardiac telemetry monitors now called the SEEQ. This expansion for Medtronic to move into the mobile cardiac telemetry market seems to be sound as this new diagnostic division can enhance growth of their legacy implantable cardiac devices.
Medtronic Advantage
Medtronic has a unique opportunity to experience immediate success as a mobile cardiac telemetry company by leveraging existing relationships with the worldwide cardiology community. Medtronic is a clear leader in the implantable cardiac device space making their efforts to secure MCT customers far easier than other new (or unknown) companies to the industry.
Additionally, Medtronic has a unique advantage from a technological standpoint with their SEEQ mobile cardiac telemetry monitoring system. The SEEQ is above and beyond in terms of its technology as this device comes in the form of a wearable patch that communicates with a mobile (wireless) device. This patch technology has proven to be a superior method of monitoring from a patient compliance perspective. The SEEQ mobile cardiac telemetry system functions like other mobile cardiac telemetry devices in that it automatically detects and automatically transmits abnormal ECG behavior to the Medtronic laboratory.
Accreditations
With the acquisition of Corventis, Medtronic now has an FDA approved MCT monitor with a Medicare approved Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF).
